In his solo exhibition Géométries de la Nuit Pietro Fortuna returns to a central theme of his work where the dreamlike dimension is the theater of a succession of spontaneous geometric correspondences. An order that seems to obey our rules and intentions but is instead guided by nature and the infinite opportunities that are created between the objects themselves.
In the dream the entire memory is poured into an indistinct mass, a swarm of figures free of all correspondence, no longer passing through the mediation of interpretation, suspending the distance between subject and object; the viewer sees himself together with what is manifested. In other words, pure images that eschew the domain of meaning, purified from the logic of narration and therefore unavailable to be used as images of anything.
Blocks of figures that rise on their own strength, going from one to another without gaps or pauses, in a succession of mirrors that subvert that perspective device that disposes of a point of view and therefore a distance that authorizes us to speak about them.
